Orbital Defender is GamesArsenal’s inertial turret defense: Earth in the middle, a spinning gun, asteroids that split, and shots you have to lead. It is a free original HTML5 canvas game on this site, not a coin-op ROM. High score, best wave, and milestones live in this browser. Hold the ring in the cabinet above; this page is the field manual.

Controls

A and D or Left and Right rotate the turret with inertia — you do not snap to a heading. Space fires primary lasers. 1, 2, and 3 dump plasma, flak, and homing when those batteries are off cooldown. Shift fires EMP only when energy is full. P or Escape pauses. On a phone, drag the lower third to aim; tap the right fire zone for lasers; weapon buttons and EMP sit in the HUD. Tap or Space on the title overlay starts a run; tap after a breach to redeploy.

Background

Missile-command and asteroids cabinets taught a generation that the sky is a budget and a split rock is two new problems. This cabinet uses a 16-by-9 field on wide screens and a square field on tall phones: a circular perimeter, incoming waves, a command probe on set waves, and far snipes that pay more. Plasma, flak, and homing are three different lead problems. EMP clears a panic when the bar is full, then you are naked. The file is self-contained so GamesArsenal can iframe it without a build step.

Review

The draw is neon cyan and magenta on a dark well, plus a perimeter bar that tells you the truth. Keyboard rotate-and-lead is the precision tool. Touch aim in the lower third is fair if you keep the fire zone from fighting the EMP button. Wave toasts and combo pops are loud enough without covering the ring. It will not replace a dedicated vector PCB with two-player duels. It will replace the five-minute tab you meant to close.

Strategy

Lead. Do not fire where the rock is; fire where the heading says it will be. Spend lasers on close splits and homing on far singles. Save EMP for a full sky, not a single stray. Far snipes are the score engine — greed a long shot when the ring is healthy. Command probes are tanky; kite with flak, do not panic-EMP unless the bar is already low. Continues are a tap redeploy, not a rewarded extra life. Waves are the trophy; leftover energy is how calm you were.
