Gravity Slinger is GamesArsenal’s N-body gravity slingshot: an unpowered probe, live planets, neutron shears, event horizons, and a cyan docking gate that will not accept a hot approach. It is a free original HTML5 canvas game on this site, not a physics classroom dump. Stars, unlocked systems, and best scores live in this browser. Launch in the cabinet above; this page is the field manual.

Controls

Click or drag back from the probe, then release to launch — the farther the pull, the hotter the shot. After you are flying, Space or a mid-flight tap burns a finite micro-thruster pulse; save it for the gate, not for a pretty curve. R reloads the current setup. P or Escape pauses. M mutes. Enter on the title screen launches the latest unlocked system. On a phone, pull back with a finger and release; tap in flight for a pulse; RESET in the HUD matches R. Briefing is the in-cabinet card; Levels picks a mission you have unlocked.

Background

Slingshot puzzles taught a generation that gravity is a tool, not scenery. This cabinet locks a 1600-by-900 view (16-by-9): twelve systems, moving wells, a prediction ribbon while you aim, and a gate with a ΔV limit. Pass close behind a planet to steal orbital momentum. Red tidal rings shear cargo. The inner disk of a black hole is an event horizon — graze the warp field, never the core. Score is base plus leftover fuel plus slingshot minus time. Stars save per level in localStorage under this origin. The file is self-contained so GamesArsenal can iframe it without a build step.

Review

The draw is cyan wells on ink, a fuel bar that turns mean when you panic-thrust, and a ribbon that lies only if you ignore moving bodies. Mouse aim is the precision tool. Touch pull-and-release is fair if thumbs stay off the HUD buttons. Twelve missions is a short campaign, not a solar-system atlas. It will not replace a dedicated orbital simulator with patched conics. It will replace the five-minute tab you meant to close before the horizon ate the cargo.

Strategy

Aim behind movers, not at them. Leave fuel for the last two seconds into the gate — a hot dock overshoots even if the ribbon kissed the ring. If a neutron shear is painted, give it a perimeter; cargo lost is a fail even if the hull survives. Graze black holes for warp, never the core. Reset is cheap; a doomed curve is not a puzzle to finish. Unlock the next system by docking, not by farming retries for a three-star you do not need yet. Continues are a retry, not a rewarded extra life. Leftover fuel is how calm you were.
