Play The Hive Matrix unblocked
The Hive Matrix is GamesArsenal’s hexagonal merge puzzle: numbered cells on a hive that grows as you score. It is a free original HTML5 game on this site. Score, level, and best live in this browser. Slide the colony in the cabinet above; this page is the field manual.
Controls
On a desktop, slide in six directions with Q, W, E, A, S, and D, matching the faces of a hex. Numpad 7, 8, 9, 1, 2, and 3 do the same. On a phone, swipe the board or tap the on-screen hex pad. Queen’s Jelly (1) undoes the last slide if you have a charge. Arm Drone Stinger (2) then tap a cell to delete it. Arm Pollen Surge (3) then tap a cell to double it. NEW HIVE starts a fresh colony. On a deadlock, WATCH AD TO CONTINUE restores the last position without burning jelly. After the first peak-cell milestone, CONTINUE COLONY keeps the same board going.
Background
Hex slides are a different animal from square-grid mergers. Six neighbors means more collisions, more dead ends, and a board that cannot hide behind four-way habits. This cabinet starts as a small ring and expands when your score crosses colony thresholds, so a tidy early hive becomes a wide late hive. Empty cells spawn after every successful slide. Matching values combine into the next rank; leftover motion keeps traveling until the hex stops. Queen’s Jelly is a short undo stack. Stinger and Pollen are scarce charges, not a second score system. The file is self-contained so GamesArsenal can iframe it without a build step.
Review
The draw is readable geometry: amber cells, a centered hive, and a HUD that keeps score, best, and level honest. Six-way input feels strange for a minute, then it feels like the only layout that belongs here. Keyboard is the best of the three because QWE/ASD maps to the pad. Swipe is fair on a phone if you commit to long strokes; short flicks will send the wrong axis. The powers are the difference between a stuck board and a personal best: jelly for a mis-slide, stinger to cut a blocker, pollen to force a merge you can see but cannot reach. It will not replace a dedicated hex-puzzle app with daily seeds. It will replace a five-minute tab you meant to close.
Strategy
Keep your highest cell near the center while the ring is still small, then park it on one edge once the hive expands so you have five directions of traffic instead of six bottlenecks. Merge in chains, not singles: a slide that only combines one pair is usually a stall. Spend jelly on a slide that buried the peak cell, not on a two-point miss. Save stinger for a singleton that blocks a corridor. Use pollen on a cell that can eat its neighbor on the next move, not on an isolated two. When the board looks full, look for a six-way slide that opens a spawn pocket rather than a merge that seals the last hole. Continues are for a personal-best colony, not for every deadlock. Level is how far the hive grew; score is how greedy the merges were on the way out.
