Basejumper Canyon Cavern is GamesArsenal’s vertical drop: a parachute, two jagged walls, and a cavern that gets meaner the deeper you fall. It is a free original HTML5 game on this site. Depth and high score live in this browser. Steer in the cabinet above; this page is the field manual.

Controls

On a desktop, move the mouse to drift with the cursor, or hold Left and Right (or A and D) for a full-speed lean. Space starts a drop and re-drops after an impact. On a phone, drag to aim or hold the left or right half of the canvas. The chute has short inertia; a still cursor holds position instead of springing to center. RE-DROP starts a fresh run. WATCH AD TO CONTINUE respawns in the middle of the current gap with score and depth intact, plus a brief grace so you are not immediately pasted to the rock you just hit.

Background

Canyon runners are old arcade cousins: one axis of motion, a shrinking corridor, and a high score that is really a depth. This cabinet uses a fixed 540-by-960 (9:16) field so it fills a phone in portrait. The gap starts wide, then sheds three percent of width every five hundred pixels of fall, never tighter than two-and-a-half chute-widths. Walls meander and jut harder with depth. Four timed pickups last eight seconds and replace each other: Thermal slows the fall, Gale speeds it and doubles score, Precision shrinks the canopy, Mega grows it. Mega auto-clears if the gap gets too tight for the fat hitbox. The file is self-contained so GamesArsenal can iframe it without a build step.

Review

The draw is honest: rock faces, a readable canopy, and a HUD that keeps score, depth, and best in three boxes. The pickup pill under the HUD always shows which modifier is running. Thermal is recovery; Gale is greed; Precision threads late caves; Mega is a dare the game will cancel when the walls close in. Mouse feel is the best of the three inputs because it is relative, not a magnet to screen center. Keyboard is fine for a bus ride. Touch hold-half is crude but fair if you commit. It will not replace a dedicated mobile drop with analog tilt. It will replace a five-minute tab you meant to close.

Strategy

Ride the middle until the gap is still generous, then hug one wall with small corrections. Take Thermal when the walls get noisy. Take Gale only while the corridor is still wide — double score is worthless if you die in twenty meters. Grab Precision before a pinch, not after you are already scraping. Ignore Mega in a tight stretch. After a near miss, freeze the mouse. Continues are for a personal-best depth. Depth is the trophy; score is how greedy you were on the way down.
